#ICYMI Cam'Ron and Just Blaze Rock the Broccoli Fest in DC

Over the weekend, Washington D.C. hosted their 2nd annual Broccoli City Music Festival with plenty of fashion vendors (ShopYT included), cool food trucks and hipsters to last the day long. Among the music performers were Solange's protege Kelela, Just Blaze and Cam'Ron. Even Karruche made an appearance to enjoy the earth day celebration green festivities. Cam'Ron and the audience were definitely about the green life in more ways than one as he performed classic hits like "Get Em' Girl",  "Oh Boy", "Hey Ma" and "I Really Mean It". Geeky Gossip: #GetHip to the Oculus Rift and Virtual Reality Wave

With all this buzz around the new Oculus Rift virtual reality console and other systems like it on the horizon; we had to dig into this topic and see what's next for this incredible movement... and see how long it'll take for us to get our hands on one!

Via Mashable:

The most recent indication of [virtual reality] potential mainstream viability is Facebook's purchase of gaming headset Oculus Rift in March. But is that an accurate sign of VR's return or simply an exaggerated uproar because it's Facebook? Even advanced devices like Oculus don't beget applications far beyond gaming — yet. The average consumer still can't picture what the practical applications could be, or even whether we need them at all.

The Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 costs $350; the original Kinect costs $150. We don’t know the cost of Sony’s Project Morpheus yet, but expect it to be under $400. Computers tens of thousands of times more powerful than what virtual reality pioneers used in the '80s and '90s now cost a few hundred dollars. An Arduino accelerometer sensor costs under $30. Augmented reality is possible through your $199 smartphone.

Still no clear answer on when it'll be consumable to the masses, but the Oculus Rift website is allowing pre-orders of their 2.0 version for delivery by Aug 2014.

Can't wait? Check out this video below of how dope the technology can be in their new horror game "Alone in the Rift".

New Music: Drake - Draft Day (#FryMan Part Duex?)

Drizzy enlists the sample of a Lauryn Hill classic ("Doo Wop, That Thing") for his latest tune "Draft Day". While drops love for Johnny Manziel and Jennifer Lawrence and blows off Chance the Rapper's stage name as an indicator of lack of confidence, people can pin point whether or not he's firing back at Jay-Z or not.

A couple verses stood out for us though:

  • "Just hits, no misses that's for the married folk| I heard they talking crazy, I was out of town, you know they love to pop all that sh*t when I'm not around."
    • This could be in reference to the "Mrs. Drizzy" name calling and the timing of when Jay dropped the freestyle towards the end of Drake's WYLAT euro trip.
  • "Oh wait sidebar, left some beat at the end. So that all of you f*ck n***as could loop it and get your lies off."
    • Perhaps another reference to Jigga man using his beat to diss him.

I'm thinking Drake decided to sub his way through this, which is pretty strategic. By standing his ground against a rap GOD; he titan-ed his way through this basically making Jigga seem cowardlike.

But you be the judge... listen below:
