Show Review: Big K.R.I.T. Makes You Pay Attention

Hard hitting bass lines and smoke filling the air, 2 members of TWO9 rush the stage unapologetically. As female DJ Osh Kosh spins the first track, rap members Curtis and Original Fani, jump on stage and turn up the excitement. On first glance, this may have seemed like a yet another trap music crew, but the audience was in for quite a surprise. After a couple tracks, two more members, FatKidsBrotha hopped on stage. Bringing a slightly Midwest, west coast vibe stylewise; these two started off their set screaming “F*CK THE POLICE” with glaring red and blue lights that followed. The crowd followed the chants and threw middle fingers in the air. But just as the audience got settled in, and following a “mary jane” break, TWO9 had one more surprise in store. 8 of them rejoined on stage to perform along with one more unexpected person, a white guy… with dreads! Caucasian CeeJ and Jace, whom make up Retro Sushi, are the last duo to join the crew which begins to give an explanation to their name, and they equally kill the stage to completion. This crew provides the audience with a distinct vibe from most groups that tend to have a similar style to (A$AP MOB, OFWGKTA). Yet, what makes them unique is that they are indeed different duos with different flows that make a super group of 9. And it was only the beginning of the show.

Just as you thought you reached your eargasmic max, Big K.R.I.T. enters from stage right wearing all black with a fitted. Bass thumping, 808 pumping smoke filled riding music blasted from the speakers, but not just any type of riding music ….Cadillac riding music. The dj booth was decked out and shaped in an ivory and chrome plated Cadillac. Letting his music be the statement he opened the show with “Country Shit”. The crowd went in pandemonium! Big Krit conquered the stage with his aggressive demeanor as he attacked the lyrics to “Something Right”. You can feel the ego of the crowd begin to boost as he transitioned to “Talkin Bout Nothing” from the mixtape King Remembered in Time. Then he had everyone feeling like a boss when he performed “New Agenda”. His performances were like waves as he took us on intense highs and laid back lows as he performed songs such as “Lac Lac Lac”, “Rotate”, “Riding Dirty and my Trunk”. Finally, he re-introduced some of his greatest hits from “Money on the Floor” and ended with his newest single “Mt. Olympus”. It was surely a night to remember. His diverse music gives him a unique twist as a conscious rapper with a country twang. Throughout the night, he consistently showed his appreciation to his fans for all the love they’ve shown thus far, connecting with his fans like no other artist. To much satisfaction, he gave an amazing show proving himself to be a very underrated and underground artist. “YEAH HO!”

Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg Confirms Wiz Cheated on Amber Rose

Hot 97 had listeners sipping some seriously hot tea this morning with their "Talk About it Tuesday" segment. Peter Rosenberg is known to be a close friend of Amber's and he was well aware of her and Khalifa's marital issues.

So as Rosenberg got more and more irate with false claims of Amber Rose being the cheater in the relationship, he pulled out his Trump girlfriend card and exposed how and who Wiz Khalifa cheated on her with.

“Amber walked in on him with two women, same time. Twin biological sisters,”

No word on Amber's feelings on the exposure, as she hasn't been on twitter in 5 days. But Rosenberg is definitely willing to support and defend her regardless of having permission to do so.

M.A.N. Fallen Ambitous Girl

M.A.N.: Fallen Ambitious Girl

♫ Am I wrong for wanting better? Should I settle forever? Oooh, I swear it feels like this is as good as it gets. Am I wrong for wanting cheddar? Although they tell me that I'll never get out here, I swear I'm driving by a better life ♫ -Kirko  Bangz

The Frustrations of a fallen ambitious girl. So currently I’m going through this quarter-life crisis. Instead of heat flashes and spontaneous shopping I’m experiencing extreme highs and lows while searching for the pursuit of happiness in life. In my mind the average 26 year old should be somewhat stable and secure. I have a vision but have not quite reached that plateau. The one consistent thing that I can say that I know is that I want better for myself. Is it too much to want my dream career (media mogul), a sexy, sweet and intelligent significant other (Wale), and a successful empire that me and my family can live comfortably in. I digress. I am usually very optimistic on life, love and career, but lately I have just been experiencing constant road blocks. I try to stay encouraged and inspire others to follow their dreams but sometimes I wonder if I’m talking so much to convince myself that I can make a well-known name for myself. I fantasize about vogueing into my dull 7-7 job, quitting, and then doing the shmoney dance like F$@^ it… But I realize I have mouths to feed. Sometimes I just wish passion paid the bills. Here is my Kanye rant, for all those 25+ years people who currently feel the same. My message to you (and myself): Keep ya head up it sometimes it has to get worse before it gets better. You were given this life because you are strong enough to live it. Remember nobody has the power to stop what you’ve been blessed with.

~In the words of Miss K

Tune Tuesday: Kendrick Lamar - 'i', Childish Gambino - "Free At Last", PARTYNEXTDOOR - "Thirsty (Remix)" ft. Wale

Sampling the Isley Brothers' hit song "Who's That Lady", Kendrick Lamar returns with the first single off of his forthcoming album, "i". This tune is met with a lot of mixed feelings, (including my own), but the one thing everyone can appreciate is the positive message he has to offer. Check out "i" below:

Childish Gambino has been spitting some hot fiyah lately and this tune is no exception. British producer S-X (who’s worked with the likes of Lil Wayne, T.I. and Lupe Fiasco) had it in his stash and was supposed to release it a year ago. Well, timing is everything, and we believe the timing was right for this one. Check out "Free At Last" below:

And just last month she had Mr. 106 stripping and kissing her on stage again! #GeekyGossip: She Leakin', How Safe is iCloud?

After yet another leak of female celebrity nude photos and total invasion of privacy, its starting to leave many wondering how and why this is happening. Well no need to panic. Yes, celebs had their iCloud accounts hacked but no, you won't need to shut yours off, and here's why:

Mashable gives us the lowdown from Apple:

Hacking into cell phones or online accounts to access nude or personal photographs from celebrities is hardly new (remember when Paris Hilton's SideKick was hacked?), but what makes this incident potentially more disturbing are the rumors that this cache of images is associated with a broader attack on iCloud and its Photo Stream feature.

To be clear, it is not confirmed that iCloud was involved in this incident. We've reached out to Apple for comment and will update if we get any statement from the company. It's also important to note that even if iCloud accounts were compromised, that doesn't necessarily signify a larger, systemic breach.
Still, knowing how many people use iCloud, we wanted to address how safe iCloud and other cloud systems, such as Dropbox, Google Drive and OneDrive, are.

Until we see any evidence that indicates that a broader iCloud breach occurred (or even get confirmation that iCloud was involved in these incidents), we have no reason to believe that iCloud is unsafe.
The much more important question that users should ask themselves — whether they use iCloud or Google or OneDrive or Dropbox — is if they can trust themselves.
This means:
  • Using secure, unique passwords on their accounts and device
  • Using two-factor authentication when available (Two-factor authentication means that before you can access an account, you must login with both a password and a unique device cod.)
  • Enabling locks and passwords on computers and phone accounts
  • Running the latest version of an operating system
Those steps alone won't ensure that your data will always be safe — but it will go a long way in minimizing how attackers can access your accounts.

Aaliyah Biopic Casts No Name Actors for Missy and Timbaland Roles

Whether Aaliyah's family likes it or not, Lifetime's Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B biopic is well underway.  And it looks like they've casted their Missy Elliot and Timbaland:

Via Power 105

Producers of the upcoming Aaliyah biopic have found their Timbaland and Missy Elliott in two relatively unknown actors.
Lifetime Television execs tell TheWrap.com, Izaak Smith and Chattrisse Dolabaille will play the hitmaking producer and rapper who were instrumental in shaping Aaliyah's sound as part of their "Super Friends" network.  They join Alexandra Shipp who will play the late R&B singer in Aaliyah: Princess of R&B. Shipman took over the role after Disney Channel star Zendaya Coleman dropped out of the project.
Aaliyah's family has voiced its opposition to the TV movie, saying the singer's life story should be headed to the big screen.  Now some fans are speaking out about the casting of Dolabaille as Elliott. According to The Urban Daily, they're concerned that the Canadian actress looks nothing like the hitmaking rapper.
Although Chattrisse doesn't look as big as Missy may have back in the day, she looks like she could be molded into the resemblance. Izaak may not be a perfect fit either but who is? Unless they cast identical twins, it seems like many fans will not be satisfied. But isn't the acting what's more important? You tell us.

BTS: Nicki Minaj Teases Drake Will Make a Cameo in "Anaconda"

Nicki Minaj is really pumping up the promo for her next single "Anaconda". In this behind the scenes clip, she shows how the video's coming along for each scene, and shows off her sexy assets along the way. At the end, an inebriated Nicki flips into her Jamaican patois language and banters with her crew and even hints at having a familiar YMCMB artist make a cameo on set. They both switched up their voices, but there's only one Toronto native she'd joke around with like that. ;-)

Recently, AllHipHop.com's founder Chuck Creekmur penned an open letter to Nicki Minaj bashing her new "Anaconda" single cover for creating a possible bad influence for his pre-teen daughter. Huff Post Live's Marc Lamont Hill, took the liberty to strike up the same conversation in a sit down interview (or debate really) between Creekmur and some of his Hip Hop journalist peers; begging. Khloe Kardashian and French Montana Talk Ramadan, Sharing the Spotlight, Sex and More

For the first time, Khloe and French were interviewed together on Angie Martinez's new Power 105 show. French was rather shy and clammed up about the depth of his and Khloe's relationship. However, once miss Kardashian stepped into the studio, she was quite candid. She said she's very happy and doesn't care what everyone thinks but later said she did learn from her past to keep some things private. Yet, she did reference to "torturing him everyday" while he can't have sex during Ramadan. Oh Khloe. ;-)

Make Music Not War: Tiny and T.I. Release Music About Their Relationship

Although there may be trouble in paradise for one of hip hop's most loved marriages, they seem to be working through it the best way they know how; musically. Yesterday, Tiny dropped new music with a video titled What the F@#K You Gon Do? (WTFYGD) and she's clearly still got it. Moving and grooving similar to how she did in her Xscape days, Tiny asked the age old question, what would you do if I did what you did to me to you.

But quicker than most predicted, it seems T.I. has a heartfelt response in his song entitled "Stay". The title alone says it all, but T.I. is quoted to say:
“Man after everything we will never be the same/ Man I’m tired of tellin’ lies, know you sick of playin’ games/ I remember you got a tattoo, put my name on it,”

If anything, there's great music coming out of this situation. But we can't help but hope this will be great therapy save their relationship too.
Check out both tunes below:

As the hype continues to build for the Drake Vs. Lil Wayne concert, a trailer has been released that compliments the Street Fighter video game font used for the initial promo photos. The two rappers are illustrated as characters from the game ready to fight.

In addition, Wayne has been quoted already that this tour's show may play out in a back and forth form and may even end with a battle. No word on extra acts, but we're sure there will be a surprise or two at each venue.

#TuneTuesday New Music: PartyNextDoor - Recognize ft. Drake

"You got n*ggas & I got b*tches... I really want you you you!"
Lots going on in the OVO camp this week. With groupie stories floating around and Drake hosting the Espys this Wednesday, this was an opportune time to release a song from his teammate, PARTYNEXTDOOR. In typical PND fashion, the beat is quite trance-like as he and Drizzy swoop in with promises of commitment to the baddest of baddies.

This song is off of PARTY's upcoming "PARTYNEXTDOOR TWO" project coming out July 29th, 2014. Drake also announced that he'll be naming his next album "Views From the 6" which is a shoutout to his hometown of Toronto. No release date has been called out, but based on his 0 to 100 song, we can bet it'll be Spring 2015.

#GlaMaRecommends Check Yourself Before You Wreck Someone Else with a Hashtag/Meme: #JadaPose

When hashtags and memes go too far: I understand that we live in a fairly insensitive time where memes can make even the most shameful of news stories become humorous to the masses. However, there is a time and place where lines of discretion must be drawn; especially in the case of the #JadaPose. The hashtag is derived from a horrible story with a young 16 year old girl that was drugged and raped at a house party. Unfortunately, this occurs far too often, but what does not is someone’s rape being broadcasted through social media via video and later as a hashtag provoking poses like a new age planking joke. Jada went on to speak out against what happened to her which was met with a mix of support and negativity

As Jada's Family advisor Quanell X said, social media has been the gift and the curse#GlaMaRecommends that we think before we jump on every trending topic or meme that could be deemed seriously insensitive. Whether people knew if she was lying on the ground disheveled and contorted for fun or from being harmed, this teenage girl exists and surely was pictured in a negative light. There have been previous issues where people with mental disabilities, impaired judgment and even children were made into memes that will follow them for the rest of their lives, generally against their will. So let this be a lesson to everyone of how deep these memes and words can cut. Enjoy social media, but have some tact while you’re at it.

#BeyonceX10 Bey Incorporates Outkast Classic in Flawless Performance

HBO and Beyonce teamed up to give those who couldn't attend the #OnTheRun tour a peek of what they're missing. For the third week of #BeyonceX10, King Bey released footage of her "Flawless" performance, which features cool effects and incorporated the horn section of an Outkast fan favorite, "Spottieottiedopalicious". Check out the video below:

Studio Love: Drake and Chris Brown Pictured in Studio Together

Chris Brown and Drake have allegedly squashed their beef and are willing to work together on music. Rumor is that C Breezy's relationship with Young Money caused the two to come to an understanding that they would fair better being cool with each other musically than being enemies. Could this mean new music from the two, perhaps about Rih Rih? Either way, we're happy to see they all could just get along with out any bottle unnecessary throwing. <3

New Music: Elle Varner - Don't Wanna Dance ft. A$AP Ferg

Elle Varner samples a College Dropout Kanye beat for her next smooth single, Don't Wanna Dance. This lovesick tune touches on what happens when ladies lose their lover and no longer want to party all night long, rather than staying home with their boo.

"I told yo ass not to go to that damn party.  You don't listen. Now you singing this damn sorry, song."

Zendaya Coleman Pulls Out of Lifetime's Aaliyah Biopic

Well this is news! After all the issues and drama (including my own) stirred up over her nabbing this controversial role, Zendaya Coleman has officially pulled out of the Aaliyah Biopic.

Via Entertainment Weekly:
Lifetime has confirmed that Zendaya Coleman, the 17-year-old best known as the star of Disney Channel’s Shake It Up! and as a breakout on Dancing With the Stars, will no longer be starring in the cable channel’s upcoming Aaliyah biopic, Aaliyah: The Princess of R&B (working title).
“We are sad Zendaya will no longer portray Aaliyah. Production is currently on hold,” the network’s PR team confirmed Sunday on its Twitter feed. The casting of Coleman, whose own 2013 single “Replay” spent 21 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, was announced June 16.
A rep for Coleman confirmed to EW that Zendaya is no longer involved in the project but no reason was given.

However E! News reported:
A source told E! News that there were production issues, including problems obtaining the rights to Aaliyah’s music. The R&B star and Queen of the Damned actress died at age 22 in a plane crash on Aug. 25, 2001.
“Aaliyah has always been an inspiration to Zendaya,” the source said. “She was honored to portray her and pay tribute to her. If she is going to do it, she wants to do it right.”

Welp, whatever the issue was, it's about time for some sort of film to come out. Aaliyah has been gone for 10+ years (Just shy of 15 frankly) and TLC, James Brown, and Ray Charles  have all surpassed her in producing some sort of commemorative film; and they all had passings after hers. #GlaMARecommends that Aaliyah's family loosen the reigns a bit, before the novelty wares off.

Get Hip: Ab Soul Drops by the Breakfast Club to Talk Album Drop "These Days"

Ab Soul is one of the great members of Black Hippy and Top Dawg crews that is finally starting to get the attention his music deserves. Many artists know they've arrived once they end up on the Breakfast Club radio show in New York; where they tend to share their back stories with the world. Ab Soul has been heard on many of his fellow TD mixtapes and albums as well as Jhene Aiko's Sailing Souls mixtape (W.T.H.). But little know much about the black lipped pastor.

In this Breakfast Club interview he dishes on the rare disease that caused his lip discoloration and sunglasses flow, his current relationship with video model Yaris Sanchez, the untimely death of his longtime girlfriend Alori Joh who used to be the distinct background vocalist on Top Dawg music (Section.80 etc..) plus more:

#GlaMaRecommends These Days... is available on iTunes and in stores now; and its definitely a dope listen. Aside from the fire features from Rick Ross, Lupe Fiasco, Ravaughn, JMSN and much more, the album is a perfect blend of ratchetness and righteousness... in true Top Dawg fashion.
